Popular Pattern Types: Stripes

You can create straight horizontal and vertical stripe patterns from almost any image by using symmetries with a rectangle control path: Simple shift , Glide reflection , Mirror , Half-turn , Double glide , Parallel mirrors & glide , and Double mirror :
Symmetries with a rectangle control path
To create vertical stripes, simply drag the top or bottom side of the control path toward the opposite side to narrow the control path into a horizontal strip a few pixels wide. Or, to make horizontal stripes, drag the left or right side of the control path toward the opposite side to narrow the control path into a vertical strip a few pixels wide.
Sample stripe pattern
Moving the source image relative to the control path is often easier than moving a narrow strip of the control path relative to the image (which is possible, too, if you increase the magnification in the Source image window enough by repeatedly clicking the Zoom In button in the Source Image window).
Use the mirror symmetries to create balanced stripes.
Besides straight stripes, you can use SymmetryMill to create irregular, serpentine, and other stripe designs.
