To load an image in SymmetryMill, drag and drop the image on the the Source Image window (or the Pattern window) or click the
Load Image button
in the SymmetryMill toolbar. This opens the
Load Image dialog that lets you select a JPG, PNG, or GIF image from your local
computer or the internet.
In the Load Image dialog, do one of the following:
- To browse your local computer for the source image file, select the On
your computer option and click the Browse button.
- To load an image by its address, paste the address in the By web address (URL)
field and click the Load button.
- To load the demo image, select the Demo image option and click the Load button.
One way to obtain the web address of an image in your web
browser is to right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS or Windows) the
image and choose Copy Image Address from the popup menu (or Copy Image
Location, or similar, depending on your web browser).
Note: When you load an image by browsing,
SymmetryMill will
identify the image by its file name rather than by the full location.
You can move the file to a different folder on your local computer and still access snapshots that you
created for that image.
If you rename the source image file, SymmetryMill will not find snapshots
that you saved for that image.
If you make snapshots for an image and then edit your image file and reload
it in SymmetryMill, you can re-create snapshots to reflect your edits. See
Advanced Use of Snapshots.
