Working with Snapshots: Loading Shared Patterns

ENHANCED in SymmetryMill 2
You can load shared patterns into your SymmetryMill session both from the web and from within SymmetryMill itself. Either way you get exactly the same end result.

Load a pattern set from the web

To open a shared pattern, drag and drop the pattern's web address from a web browser into the Pattern window.

Load a pattern set from within SymmetryMill

From within SymmetryMill, you can load a shared set either directly by its web address or by first loading the source image and then browsing to the shared set you wish to open, similarly to how you can open a private pattern set. Do one of the following:
  • If you know the web address of a pattern set, click the Load Shared Patterns button in the SymmetryMill toolbar, enter (paste) the web address of the pattern set, and click Load.
  • If you know the web address of the source image:
    1. Click the Load Image button in the SymmetryMill toolbar, enter (paste) the image web address, and click Load.
    2. Click the Manage Snapshots button in the SymmetryMill toolbar.
    3. In the Shared Sets section, find the set you wish to load and click OK.
The Manage Snapshots dialog lets you browse pattern sets and preview their content. On exit, the dialog loads the private or public set that you have chosen.
Loading a shared pattern set creates your own private copy of that set. The sharing status of the set is indicated by the Share Status button in the SymmetryMill toolbar.
